I have been to numerous events especially in the 1990s, where bands were playing all around the field. Many bands i cannot put a name. You will also notice my taste in music. I like ska music and the two tone revival i was also big into the 'Madchester' generation of the early 90s. I would love to see one of kernows bands and that is Libera. I am totally out of seeing live music having not been to gig for nearly 5 years. Must be my age.

I've not heard of most of what everyone is listing on this thread!

Been to a small number of concerts to accompany my wife; those that I can remember are:

Ummm......... there's been a couple more but I've forgotten the names!


That's in terms of music groups anyway.

In other terms, have seen Little and Large live on stage, also Lenny Henry, and going back to when I was very small, I even saw Charlie Cairioli live once - must have been one of his final performances. I know Tristan fry, but I've lost his contact details (!) and I knew Norman Wisdom. Have met Brian May a couple of times.

Indeed they are: That’s where I’ll be seeing them. I’m now into my sixth year of Cropredy, I’ve only missed one (2009) in that time because I chose to do two rock/metal festivals that summer instead of my more usual arrangement of Cropredy + Selected rock festival. My budget only ever stretches to two festivals per year, which is still pretty good tbh.

I would have liked to have seen Moving Hearts as well. I've had a listen to Horslips on ye olde t'interweb, as part of my "Cropredy research" for the year, and I have to say that even if I'm not awestruck by their music, they sound agreeable enough.

The Hearts are the best live band I ever saw (Maart from Fairport agreed with me on that one!). Fabulous musicians!

I haven't been to Cropredy for about ten years now, my first one was 1987, and every year until 2000. Kids kinda cramp your style. I plan on it this year, though!

I have the VHS of Cropredy ’87 (Hidden away somewhere: Haven’t had access to a video player in a couple of years), as well as the bootleg live recordings of that year on CD, and even though it was before my time, it sounds like it was an absolutely incredible Fairport set : The Jethro Tull set within a set is amazing (Would have loved to have been around to see the whole thing rather than just a couple of selected songs on CD): Tull were absolutely at the peak of their performance around that time IMO.

Well, if Maart says something’s good then I’m inclined to agree: I’ve a big respect for Maart’s musical tastes.

Cheers for the advice about Horslips, I'll check out "The Belfast Gigs" I think. Others have steered me towards the recent live footage at the O2 for a taste of their live style and I'm generally quite pleased with what I'm hearing.

Enjoy Even if the tickets aren't completely and absolutely sold out as I'm led to believe, I'm still not sure I can afford one, what with festival season approaching. Though I have seen Maiden twice now (My undisputed favourite classic metal band, although closely followed by Saxon in my affections for NWOBHM), as you have, and the last time was as recently as last July, so it’s not too much of a loss for me.

Wouldn't have minded seeing Paramore but they'd sold out by the time I got into them. Evanescence (pre Open Door) and Within Temptation must have kicked bottom too.

I read on last fm that dragonforce are going to be a support band for Maiden in Brum. Shame it's on a Sunday, I fancied some post gig drinking in town!
