You mean just normal white paint ?
Isn't it supposed to have special function for reducing temperature ?

its the colour that does it. the lighter the colour something is the less it converts light into heat.

There is an experiment we did in physics at school where we put a 2 thermometers under 2 bits of paper, one white, the other black, and put it in sunlight. The temperature under the black paper was a lot hotter than under the white one. The white one reflects the light away.

The proportion of light reflected by a surface is called its albedo. Its important in meterology because clouds, ice and snow reflect more than green fields.

Paint is a coating isn't it?
Just a different sort of coating and unless you are actually right up to it, could you tell the difference?.

Well it is a coating but for those of us in track maintenance or renewals there is a difference...

Rail painted white is to combat CRT issues.

Coated rails, from companies such as alphatek are use in areas with high corrosion.

Who keeps the Painted / Coated rails clean?
As it won't take long before the reflective quality deteriorates and the situation returns to what it was before.

Thats because your rail was coated.
Painting S&C / rails is a PW job as it is part of CRT management....
