I’m with a group of 100 adults and children in Whitby on Sunday. We plan to catch the 12.46 to Sleights and walk back. We are obviously happy to stand for the short journey. Northern Group Travel advised they couldn’t book a group in at the weekend and we should just turn up. I’m happy with that but wondering about the train capacity. In particular I’m concerned that we won’t all be able to get on to the train. Can anyone advise on the capacity and estimate the passenger loading please?

I'm guessing it will probably be a single class 142 as its a Sunday and so I would assume it would be rather full on departure from Whitby as the is only 1tp3h

Whitby used to be a solid 156 turn with only 142s being used to strengthen services. Although that was when it was run as a self-contained shuttle and before they started getting extended to the wonders of Carlisle

It was 156s when i did the line the other week. No sign of 142s venturing that far, but I know it can happen.
