Terrible news! Vern had a 'phone call today from NY Highways Dept saying they are proposing to move my stop to around the corner. Not only can't I steer there without a shunt, but it means hardly anyone will see me. When you add to this that Scarborough Borough's Tourism Manager has instructed the Tourist Information Centres staff to inform the public that they don't know anything about me (because I'm not a member, whatever that means) then I can't earn enough to pay my bills, so I must leave my home at the end of this season. It doesn't seem much of a thank you for the tireless effort my Sister Charlotte and I have put in, gaining the Town much needed media coverage and the huge numbers of people that come to see us with many businesses getting a benefit. If you know of a town with a long season and that would welcome us, please let us know. If we can't find another home, Charlotte and I will have to go to market. Please, please don't let that happen! The ruling will be made on August 9th- yes that's how much they think of us, only telling us today. Some years ago, the Council removed the pull-in that used to be where I stop and they say there isn't the money now to reinstate it.
