Whitby bus

Realtime trains still shows 4 buses each way between York and Whitby operated by GR,weekdays only.

I guess these were introduced when the Pickering line closed,but why are they still shown and when did they last run? They don't appear to operate any more,the only service being provided by Coastliner.

I don't know the reasoning behind this one but these are the coastliner buses just with the weekend times not shown. LNER is just the company that has put it in the system.

There are other bus services shown from other stations for connection purposes for example Leeds to Leeds Bradford airport which is done by Cross Country but is the Flyer A1 also run by Transdev.

IIRC it dates back to GNER days when they went to great efforts to promote bus links to/from their trains. Some were new links provided by coaches in GNER livery, for example to Lincoln (can't remember from where), whilst others were existing bus services, including the Coastliner route to Whitby.
York still displays the Whitby buses and (I believe) Peterborough show the X1 to Kings Lynn.

The Lincoln service was operated by Travel Wright and connected with trains at Newark Northgate. Another similar GNER liveried coach service linked Wakefield Westgate with Bradford and was operated by Yorkshire Rider.

The Whitby buses from York were shown as running on Christmas Day, which I don’t think they were.

Chris Garnett's GNER and Fearnley and Wilde's Yorkshire Coastliner. Inspirational, both of them. Nothing has come close to either since those days in the early 2000s. Now, professionalism and the presence of authoritive staff has been replaced by clueless, attention seeking clowns poncing around desperate to create viral reel social media moments encouraged on by equally dim HR departments.
