I can remember when me & Dad, before he had his stroke, used to go out on the train down to Teignmouth, Dawlish & Exeter for the day, you could more or less guarantee 47840 'NORTH STAR' would show, without a douobt. Then it would be "Guess what, it's ******* NORTH STAR again!" lol :roll:

It used to be the ex Central 158s when they were with TPE. Every where I went, I was certain to see at least 2 of them .....

Now it's just 185110/136 that follow me around. Cleared those buggers ....

My other irritant would be 185107. Used to follow me seemingly everywhere up that way. Not cleared her yet, but I'd not be surprised if she's the 185 on my next run to Cleethorpes...Either way, I don't want her to be on my train next time!

Still train related but not a particular train, when I've been out on long bashes I have been known (heart-of-wessex knows about it) to see and hear Southern everywhere. The one time that always sticks in my mind is one night (when I was still living in Swansea in 2005) I was walking up the stairs to platform 3 at Cardiff Central and I could swear I heard the announcement say "Southern service to Balham" in that voice they use on the 377s. I seem to recall seeing some train of no particular description (could have been a pair of 158s for all I can remember) and seeing it as a 377 in Southern colours. Took me a few moments to realise where I was and how insane that seemed. Southern 377s, in Cardiff...AAAAA?!

On the same note, I know heart-of-wessex and I find it incredibly funny to take the redundant waters with the Southern woman, to the extent we will make up random services and announcements. It's bizarre how funny (and at the same time annoying) that bing-bing on the announcements gets. I know we found it funny at the time to make up fake services and go "Bing-bing Welcome to the Southern service to Looooondon Victoria" from places like Inverness, Wick, Hereford, Cardiff Central or anywhere completely absurd.

Rambling rant over, inspired by Southern 377s. Bing-bing!

444043 was waiting for me to take her down to Bournemouth today and I did.

Then I got 444034 and things got a bit blurry.

Then I brought 444009 back from Bournemouth and it developed a compressor fault.The compressor was isolated by fitter.Took it to clapham yard with another 444 (018?) and I saw 444043 sneaking out on the 1335 Weymouth.
