Which is faster route London Bridge to Euston?

Two options, take the tube between the two, or stay on the train to St Pancras and walk? I'm a quick walker but would have a case to carry!

The train takes 15 mins and I would say the walk is 10-15 mins. No idea of the tube though!

For info purposes thinking of the 1014 Brighton departure (arr London Bridge 1115 or St P 1130) to meet the 1213 Euston to Manchester train - travel next week.

Tube takes 12 minutes and runs every 3 minutes (https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/working-timetables) so 15 minutes worst case off peak (platform to platform), has to be quickest.

Tube may be slightly faster but I would say Thameslink is more convenient with a suitcase particularly if you're already on the train. There can be quite a long walk at London Bridge from train to tube and then getting up and down multiple escalators.

Come out if Saint Pancras Thameslink, turn right. out of station. Turn right up cross Midland Road, and gi right again. Turn left at brill place and walk along back of Francis Crick institute.

Continue straight ahead on walking route to Phoenix Road. This takes time the side of Euston. Turn left and walk up.the side of Euston to the steps where you can access the concourse.

Northern Line is much easier - it's a walk at London Bridge but still easier than navigating back streets from St P to Euston. Will always be faster too.

Thanks everyone, the suitcase isn't the largest so quite tube-friendly. Normally I do the walk from St P to Euston; but this time I'm taking an earlier train from Euston so if Thameslink late-run I thought the tube (from LB) might be a faster option than the train+walk.

The one thing against the tube is the walk from StP passes convenience shops to stock up with butties and drinks! That's my favoured option, but if we're running 10 mins late or so then looks like the tube is better.

The walking route also goes past the Cock Tavern on Somerstown

My choice would be stay on the through train from Brighton to St. Pancras and then walk to Euston. At St.Pancras two short escalators will take you to ground level..!
Only disadvantage is that if it is raining you will get wet...!

If you take the tube from London Bridge to Euston do consider all the stairs/escalators then you will have to negotiate with a case. If there is a delay with the trains then you are stuck.

If you're starting from Brighton then Gatwick Express and the Victoria Line would be fastest. I did this trip a few times to a client in Manchester late last year.

I did the Thameslink to St P and walk option because I could travel in the back coach first class with a table and do a bit of work.

Yes, but much more expensive I think - even with railcard?

EDIT Just looked, single = £16.65 which isn't bad, only £1 more or so.

I do know there are very cheap advances where you change at East Croydon (NOT Gatwick Express) but the time is similar, if not longer, than Thameslink. But I'll bare that in mind; if Thameslink are running late from Brigthon then GX is the only option, even if costlier.

You might want to book it as a through journey with cross-London validity on the one ticket. That's what I did, but someone else was paying for it. I was on off-peak any permitted route returns costing ~£138 for the round trip (last year's prices). One advantage is that an 'off-peak' through ticket allows travel from Brighton before 0930...

Yes, it is a short walk but from train to Euston station I’d hazard it would be around 20 mins. (Edited to remove accidentally added information)

That is the return leg! Outbound (Picc - Brighton) there's no rush, I can select my route as I approach Euston - might even call for a pint @ Victoria or St Pancras! It's the coming back where I need to catch my (advance) 1213 from Euston, normally I use St Pancras and walk, but if short of time thinking of the tube from London Bridge, but reading the replies above think the best bet is Brighton > Victoria and tube from there.

You may not be aware that they send you on a *long* walk to join the Victoria Line at Victoria. It's faster (but more stairs) to head for the District/Circle Line concourse and then the interchange route to the Victoria Line from there.

Are you able to leave Brighton before the 10.14 to give yourself more time to make the connection?

The walk from Thameslink at St Pancras to Euston can be done in around 10 minutes platform to platform, if you know where you're going:

I’ve done it in 5! Hand luggage only, and I may or may not have had to run a bit

But yes, Euston platform barrier to Thameslink platform is an easy 10 minutes at a brisk pace. Going the other way allow 12 for getting to through the Euston barriers.

Can do but want a bit of a lie-in and leisurely breakfast! Don't want to fall foul of any peak restrictions too.
