Off to Glasgow on a charter on January 26th.
Got a couple of hours to kill when there
Need Scot-Rail units for photos.
What are the two stations mentioned like & how busy in say 90 mins are they likely to be?

cheers
Carl

Both stations will be pretty busy as the same trains stop at each one. I would say that Hyndland would be marginally better for photography as it has an island platform giving more potential angles. Partick has side platforms and is partially hemmed-in by tallish buildings on the Down side, which block out a lot of the light. They are only two minutes apart, so you could buy a ticket to Hyndland and then try them both and see which you prefer.

However... the problem with Hyndland is that because it's an island platform, you have a lot less opportunity to get the running gear in the picture.

Nothing at all wrong with an "in the same platform" shot - I do that a lot of the time - but at a non-island platform you can get a much wider angle on the running gear as you're not restricted to the near head on view at the end of an island platform.

Really, in this instance, your choice of location would come down to which type of picture you would prefer to get. Equally, there's nothing wrong with doing some at either station just to mix it up a little.
