Which Edinburgh-Glasgow route do you prefer?

Hi all. I was just wondering which of the Edinburgh-Glasgow rail routes people prefer to travel down.

Admittedly Falkirk is the fastest - but, aside from reasons of speed, which would you choose if you had a choice?

I quite like the Bathgate route and for all the difference in time I normally use it when I need go travel between the two cities.

Scenery and comfort, yes. Which factors would cause you to choose one route over another?

I would have said Carstairs on one of the 380s or a LNER train...

...but the other week I went on one of the 365s via Falkirk and it was really good so with electric trains coming to the route, I chose Falkirk!

Carstairs is my preferred route whether as it’s a bit quieter.

You get some stunning views of the lower Forth Valley on the Carstairs/Shotts route on the climb up to Midcalder Jn.

Bathgate, as I find the seats on the 334s (in the driving coaches) very comfortable.

Though im not a fan of mostly bays of 4 , very much a short distance layout .

For scenary , Shotts or Carstairs . You also get a better view of Glasgow this way , you dont see much out of Queen Street. Uusally i go one way and come back another.

The Bathgate route takes you through some scruffy parts of Glasgow, (yes I know it’s hard to believe there are such places). Now that ****e sorry, Sighthill is being redeveloped, the scenery - at least where it’s not totally obscured by the vegetation - is preferable to me on the Falkirk route.
GLQ is also handier for me, although I enjoy Carstairs when I get to go on a real (LNER) train (now only one each way alas).

XC HST is nice if its not cancelled past Edinburgh .
