It is all about demand and who ever told you that I would question them on their evidence to be fair. How would they know the pass rate of other companies.

If you failed the GA test you would have almost certainly failed any other TOC's tests.

Clarify. Have you failed it, or have you not achieved the standard that they demand?

However, as stated already above, no TOC needs to take weak candidates.

You've not understood the question.

You have failed to reach this TOC's self - imposed standard. If you would have "passed" with some other companies, then you have met the national minimum standard. This means that you do not have to retake the tests, and both of your "lives" remain.

You should seek clarification on this from GA.

Until recently, any TOC would accept borderlines.

Anyone getting turned away due to a borderline is unlucky. If you were applying 2 or 3 years ago a pass would have been a pass regardless.

I failed GBT on Friday at GA the reason being I was over confident and went too quickly and missed out too many. I didn't think I'd missed that many but perfection is probably what to aim for. Hopefully I'll get another chance

How many lines did you complete and how many did you miss?
Im practising at moment and a pace where I don't miss any out lets me completes 11-12 lines.

I completed 10 lines per section with zero mistakes and passed. so 11-12 is more than enough as long as you can sustain a similar number of lines with accuracy over all 5 sections.

I completed about 16 lines per page with 6 or 7 misses per page and a mistake on one page. hope this helps

I still find it worrying that the same things come up over and over again. As previously mentioned you MUST have accuracy and consistency, work on this and the extra speed will come. Everyone is so obsessed with the amount of lines!!!!!!! I have known candidates get 8 - 9 lines per page accurately and consistently and pass with a high grade and on the other hand candidates with 14 - 18 lines failing as they are not consistent.

I've just had a couple of goes in prep for an assessment I have coming up, when I was getting ready last time I was at around the 1600 cells mark and passed. On my first couple of goes I'm at around 1300 with nothing missed, I think that would be OK as long as it stays consistent. I'm far more worried about the still to be taken reaction test and CBI as well as hoping I do enough on the mechanical test to pass again.

Hi All,

To put my experience in the mix and reiterate what's been said, I was assessed (part1) for a trainee driver's role a few days ago.

After trying out the downloadable tool and heeding the sound advice from the likes of TDK/SkinnyDave and many others on this great forum, I realised that it was ALL about accuracy (not speed) and consisiency (not the amount of lines you get done, it aint a race!).

After the Boredom Dots test the other day I had a glance at each section on my answer sheet before it was taken away by the assessor, and although I was very confident that I hadn't missed any or got any wrong, I did wonder if I had completed enough.

I had completed on average 7 lines per sheet, but I must have been accurate and consistent enough because my application had been changed online to 'Successful at part assessment'.

Anyone heading for an assessment in the near future PLEASE heed the advice given freely on this site, it really is a goldmine and will set you in good stead.

The search tool at the top works well and you can search the individual threads to narrow things down.

When I done my assessment last month I was told they needed the age as when marking they mark against the average from the age range you are in eg (21-30 31-40) and gender etc to see where you rate compared to those that have already taken the tests in the past

I hope that makes some sort of sense!

When I sat mine a couple of years back we were told not to bother filling in the "age" box.
