I'm modelling a layout and wondered what it needs. I thought that a bullet train would give it an edge. But I can't choose! Please help me by voting.

it really depends where it is to be set, if it is set in the southern reigion then the javelin (make sure that it is on 3rd rail) if it is midlands/noth use a pendo (make sure it has OHLE)
As with others I'd say consider the region.
Personally I'd prefer a Javelin, as on the size of a model railway I could feasibly build, I couldn't fit the full length of a pendolino, and at least a full Javelin is a fair bit shorter.

No - it is your railway, your fantasy. If you were reconstructing a set historical or geographical environment, you would not be asking the question. Go on, take your Javelins to Kyle, where they are dragged from the station by a Duchess. Have fun!

Yep, that's exactly it except that smoky joe's the(male) duchess and it might be set in york.

If your just setting a layout not based on any region or any time in particular why not just get both Class 390 'Pendolino' and Class 395 'Javelin' units although that'll set you back a total of £240.98(Should be right!). Thats the 'Pendolino' on its own with no track (£109.99) and the 'Javelin' on its own too (£129.99).

I think they should make a 395 that is set out like a proper long distance train with doors at the ends of the coaches instead...

I believe the trains designed for the GWML electrification will be similar to the 395s but have doors over the bogies instead.
Southeastern chose to have the doors there so that it is easier to get on and off in rush hrs, also during the olympic games these trains will be very busy.

I have made my decision. I'm not getting the Javelin. But I'm not getting the pendolino either. Well, actually, I lied the first time, I am getting a Javelin, but it's in the livery of the olympic games. It's incredibly pretty. It's white with coloured figures representing each sport. !WARNING! May include high levels of artsy fartsyness.

Obviously you haven't seen how dumb the pendolino looks. Tut tut tut tut tut tut.........
I see them every day. I love them. The Javelins look worse.
Javelines, however, don't travel to Scotland. Just my own personal preferance, really.

I would have got both but, being eleven years old, I can only afford one. And anyway, I'm getting a javelin because they're in a pretty livery. And in case your wondering,it's the 2012 olympic's livery, not the navy blue.Very artistic and whatnot.
