Where to head?

So I live in Oxford and love trains and this summer I want to try and visit as many stations as possible - preferably get off at the station and get a photo there rather than just past through without stopping.

I have a 16-25 railcard and what suggestions on places which I could get there and back in a day for not a huge amount of money!!
I'm looking for lovely little stations not major interchanges such as Birmingham New Street, Reading etc.
Ideally there would be a nice village pub or coffee shop close to the station so I can "wait" in there for my return train or my connection.

What suggestions have you got??

Could you get up to Manchester by Cross Country and perhaps take in a few places in the Peak district? Buxton or somewhere on the North or South Trans Pennine routes?

Willington is the most perfect answer that I can think of. Little village with a nice little cafe almost just over the road from the station. Shouldn't be overly expensive to get to.

Culham, just down the road from you, has a pub just over the road from the station and has received praise on this forum recently in the Accommodation: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly thread.

It doesn't have any cafe in the immediate area, it may have a pub (I can't remember, been too long since I got a train down there) but there are other things within a 10 minute walk of the station at Melksham.

Thanks very much. Yes none of them are far from Oxford so I should be able to get to them pretty easily. All pretty cheap as well - and for 2 of them you have to change trains so that helps with my plan to cross off more stations I have used.
