I could say they could go to Northern and introduce a half hourly service between Doncaster and Leeds to bolster the 321/9s that Northern already have which would be a improvement on the currently hourly run services.

They have the drivers and money to do this?

I used to drive 322s on the Stansted Express. The only difference in the cab between a Dusty Bin is a bit of carpet around the sides......
They were pretty tired at the end of there career on West Anglia. Lost count how many times i would get upto 85mph through Ponders End and all the flags would trip in the PMOS and you have to walk back and rest them in the cupboard.....<(
484 had one cab that was bent up for years after a fatality at Harlow Town...

Why are they? They are basically 321s

No first class seats instantly makes them non standard, restricting the units to shuttle duties or burying them in 12 car units would minimise any problems

But NXEA would get rid of the cycles bit, which would become first class as it isn't needed for commuter trains

I think your making a large presumption there.

Its highly likely any change would not take place till any future refurb on the existing 321 fleet happens - unlike FCC, NXEA have made no alterations to the incoming 321/4 so i doubt the 322 will be any different.

FCC hasn't done any alterations to the 321s though!

Yes they have.

The FCC 321 all have (or eventually will) been through a refresh at Hornsey, the seat covers have all been replaced and the grab rails recoloured etc. whilst this is all relatively minor its great deal more than the will be done on the NXEA ones in regards to interiors.

Longer the franchise change is delayed longer we have to wait for NXEA/C2C/East Coast/Transpennine Express improvements!

Must say the C2C white livery is a vast improvement though!

Unless any agreements are made when NXEA get the inevitable further 'temporary' extension whilst the franchising system is sorted out.

It would be slightly embarrassing if the fleet is left to run around in its tired state during the Olympics.
