Where is Carlisle Brunthill?

Appears to be a Freightliner terminal with daily timetabled services to Oxwellmains but I've never seen or heard of it before, or even if it is still in use.

Brunthill was at the southern end of the Waverley route from Carlisle to Edinburgh - there was a signal box there but I don't think that there was ever a station. The Kingstown Industrial Estate is now built on the site, and a short section of about a mile of the old route remains running south from Brunthill towards Carlisle and crossing the main line on an overbridge just south of Kingmoor Yard. Beyond that, the track has been lifted but you can access the main network by travelling south from Brunthill to the headshunt at the southern end of the line, from where there is a spur running back into Kingmoor Yard.

You can see it quite clearly on Google Earth, once you know where to look.

The Brunthill branch siding ran off to the south west to connect to the former Waverley route by Stainton Junction.

What purpose would it serve presently for trains to/from Hope or Oxwellmains?

It's a cement receiving terminal, operated by Lafarge.

The traffic from Hope hasn't run for several years;
only the Oxwellmains train operates these days,
usually on a Friday.
