Which FGW routes are regularly operated by Pacers of some description? Whether exclusively or during certain times of the day.

Particularly routes in Cornwall or Devon.

Booked only on the Devon Metro from Exeter to Exmouth, Barnstaple and Paignton. Class 143s.. There was one booked to Bristol during last Summer, though.

Mainly on the valley lines, so from Cardiff Central to Penarth, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Treherbert, Barry Island, Rhymney/Bargoed, Bridgend via. Barry and Radyr/Coryton (city line) they do occasionally turn up on services to Cheltenham Spa and Maesteg and they have been known to appear on the Swanline services. Not sure if that's both 142s or 143s though for the last one.

Also Pembroke Dock on Saturdays and Swanline quite often. Booked Saturday working to Abergavenny and strengthening to Fishguard and Ebbw Vale. Daily booked work between Maesteg and Cheltenham. Also known to have worked to crossing point on the HOWL and turn trains round due to no route availability or traction knowledge at the North End.- In the past have had booked working to Hereford.
When talking about ATW 142s, any discussion would include 143s as well as they are regarded as one fleet for diagramming and operating purposes.

An ATW 142/143 Pacer is booked for the diagram starting with the 0706 Cardiff to Cheltenham.

When introduced by British Rail in the mid 1980s the units for Devon & Cornwall were given chocolate & cream livery and branded as skippers. They were found to be unsuitable for most of the Westcountry branches and sent North to join the identical Pacer fleet. A few years back when FGW took some stored 142s from Northern for use in Devon, these were probably not all the same units that were originally built for service in that region.

No, you mis-understood I know they run there but was under the impression a different name was used (Skippers). But others have said I'm out of date, probably as I have old books.

Are they maintained at Exeter or do they run to a depot elsewhere?
