Where do TOCS advertise?

Right...so your looking for an entry level railway job, right?

EMT is my local operator (Nottingham,) and they only EVER have roles which involve the words: 'manager' or 'driver' in them. I'm hardly going to get them am I?

Where do TOCS advertise there platform staff jobs, ticket office staff etc?!

Also, do EMT contract cleaners or are they advertised directly? If not, which contract is it?

You could try asking at one of their stations, someone there may be able to provide some assistance.

If the train operating company advertise vacancies it certainly will show up on their website. When I was looking for a vacancy I bookmarked all TOCs and checked everyday for vacancies. Well it worked!!!

One thing I will say is try and have more then 1 company if you can

At the bottom of the EMT careers page is details on what to do if a job you want is not currently advertised.

Check the careers pages of the operators regularly.

Depends on the individual. Driver was an entry level job, for many of us that are. I've been a manager as an entry level job several times in my earlier life.

You've written an articulte post. Why do you think you need to be a cleaner?

Get a CV in on spec. Also, can you relocate to areas where jobs are more plentiful?

I always go through http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tocs_maps/tocs/TrainOperators.aspx but this only lists passenger TOC'S and not freight! Just click on the links for the different TOC'S and find their careers/jobs page where any current openings will be listed!
