Who is responsible?

It made me wonder today when I travelled on the 10.55 EMT service from Derby to York.
As it approached Platform 2, it was announced that first class was at the front and there are no catering facilities on this train. It transpired that first class was at the rear and the buffet was operational.
Now this train only starts at Leicester and such information is presumably purely an internal EMT matter so who passes it on and why do they get it wrong?
I've noticed it several times with EMT and Cross Country too, particularly regarding the position of first class. Who passes on the wrong details?

Most intending passengers take no notice anyway but there are some who position themselves accordingly and it causes inconvenience when people have to walk the length of the the train after boarding with their luggage searching for reservations.

It sometimes makes me think it would be better to say nothing rather than confuse people unnecessarily!

I don't know who is responsible for the details on the boards at Derby or Leicester, but my experience is that it's usually the opposite of what's claimed ;)

Leicester can change the boards for the whole network if they are wrong, unless it has changed in the last 3 months, whether anyone would have noticed is a completely different matter however, or if there would even have been anyone in the office and not on the platform to do it considering it was early on a Sunday morning.

I asked a similar question after the same occurred at every station where a Meridian was operating - led to a number of people having to trudge through the train. I'm on mobile app at the moment so cannot search for the thread

IME they are very rarely wrong nowadays but when they are, they are wrong at every station en route. It is almost as if no station staff en route bothered to report it, or that no one bothered to act after getting the report.

I have had the same problem at Derby a couple of times.

I have noticed the best one though for announcements and information boards is Virgin Trains.

Well. If the announcements are wrong at every station along the line, there should be MANY empty seats available, in all classes! Lucky travelers. Sam
