In contrast, with a 60+ Oyster card, TfL explicitly tell you that you may use it as soon as you receive it and that you do not need to wait until your birthday.

When I've renewed a 3 year Railcard I've had the new one arrive with 3 years and 3 weeks until expairy. I've never had this questioned.
