Do you reckon that bloke's all over here, or Football365, or BikeRadar, or whetever, going on about how unreasonable his wife is?

No I think he's too busy eating cakes.

And off shagging someone else if he knows what's good for him, she sounds like an absolute harridan.

This is perhaps my all time favourite topic from our favourite matriarchal madhouse.

I think I lost several brain cells reading that

You do realise we will shortly be over run with them on here soon, well after they have finished the ironing and made some (perfect) cakes anyway!

Giving a disabled person priority boarding will see station staff get assaulted? But of course.

If the train is genuinely crush loaded then a disabled person will have to wait just like the able bodied will. But how often is that genuinely the case, and how often is it that a crowd of people barge past the wheelchair user and THEN claim the train is too full?

If you're on any Waterloo bound train in the morning peak you have a fir idea of what crush loaded means.

I use the northern line, I know exactly what crush loading is.

My point is that a lot of people leave the train at Clapham Junction, so even if the same number get on there should be room for a wheelchair bound passenger.

More people want to get on than off the SWT trains towards Waterloo. The root cause of the issue is that SN commuters going towards Waterloo and onwards change at CJ, but the SWT commuters whose onwards is the Victoria line are likely to find it more convenient changing at Vauxhall. My idea for solving the problem is to close Vauxhall Northbound in the morning peak, forcing passengers to go via Victoria or circulate via Stockwell... Won't annoy anybody!

So your proposal is to make a simple journey difficult!

Words fail me, well I have some but would be banned!

Not really much of a hardship, changing at CJ and Vic, compared to a longer journey with a single change. The main losers would be people who go Waterloo > Vauxhall > Victoria, or those who get off the buses at Vauxhall, which is why th e suggestion is tongue in cheek. I guess the reason people prefer the packed option with a single change is that they've had bad experiences when they close Victoria underground.

I expect many of these people would be travelling further into London via the Victoria line, for whom one change instead of two and more chance of getting onto the Tube would be a definite advantage. Not to mention that any route that avoids Victoria tube concourse in rush hour has got to be a good thing.

Ahh, but boarding at Vic would be easier because the passengers who would have boarded at Vauxhall wouldn't have. The real answer is 10 coach commuter services and then crossrail 2. I think that there is suppressed demand, so relief from the 10 coach will be very short lived. (I am part of that suppressed demand as I go to Vauxhall via Battersea Park and bus for journey comfort reasons)

Yes but only marginally. One relatively easy change at Vauxhall still wins over two much more difficult ones at Clapham Jn and Victoria.

If anything 10-car will encourage more passengers to go via Vauxhall instead of changing at Clapham Jn. Hopefully Crossrail 2 in its through running variant would resolve this by providing direct services from Waterloo suburban routes to the places in central London that many commuters want to go to, so avoiding the change onto the Tube at Vauxhall or anywhere else.

I don't think the CJ change is difficult. Just up the stairs and across from 10 to 14. The metro services at Vic leave you as close to the underground as p7 at Vauxhall. The same wouldn't be true of BML services.

If you change at Vauxhall you are more likely to get on the first Victoria Line train than if you try to get on at Victoria in the am peak. For the same reason lots of Southeastern passengers change to the Victoria line at Brixton.

One thing it won't change is the number of non suburban commuters having to change at Waterloo, unless they find away of allowing non-suburban commuters to join Crossrail 2, without them having to change more than once or take long slow trains from the extremities of Cross Rail 2, to the point where by passengers find it quicker to just stay on the train to Waterloo and change there.

Both the proposed SWML major improvement options (as explained in the London and SE RUS they are either SWML 5 tracking east of Surbiton OR Crossrail 2, but not both) lead to more calls at Clapham Junction by longer distance services.
