Follow procedure and ring up in advance? Why should a wheelchair user ring up in advance. Next time you want to go and use the train, and everytime after that, could you ring up please 24 hours before?

And there's YOUR discrimination against the able bodied. No, able-bodied don't need to ring in advance to make sure they'll get the assistance they need, because they don't need assistance. Your arguments are just getting more and more ridiculous with each post, and all you are succeeding in make yourself look like a fool.

Calling me and Anvil gay is also discrimination against real gays, which neither me nor anvil are

I did not call you gays - I mentioned the fact of a festival that ypu might like to atttend. Lots of straight people visit it too. I did yesterday too, does that make me gay?

Aah. See that is exactly the discrimination that I am trying to fight. You did not wander once if my disability was because of medical negligence or by accident. You immediately had the thought and image in your mind that it is god-made. Pure discrimination of the highest.

Mr Khaliq, who has had spinal muscular atrophy since birth

FFS it's been plastered in the press enough.

Frankly I think you love the attention, positive or negative. My 5 year old used to try to get my attention, sometimes behaving badly because negative attention is better than no attention. She soon stopped when I started ignoring her.

Cant answer and feeling ashamed therefore topic changing.

Not trying to deny it then I see.

I will bring it back on topic for you.

You are in a wheelchair (for whatever reason). Get over it. It means some things in life will be more difficult than for an able bodied person. It is not necessarily right or wrong. There is a number for you to ring for people to HELP you and ADVISE you. Use it.

Im travelling to see my mum in a weeks time. I wanted a table seat so I could use my laptop. I *could* have just turned up hoping to get a table, but instead I reserved a table seat. If you want something that isnt just "turn up and go" you have to pre-book.

You have got to accept that you have special needs and that currently there arent the facilities on every train to cater for those requirements.

And before you go on, my sister is actually in a wheelchair and yes she does ring up in advance because that, unfortunately, is the world in which we live at this time and it isnt going to change any time soon because we're broke as a nation.

So that the train company can provide the most efficient service for you perhaps? That way it avoids any dissapointment when you are told that you can't travel due to whatever reason.

It's similar to calling a taxi and not specifying the fact you are in a wheelchair. If they send a bog standard 5 seat hatchback then you nor the taxi driver will be very impressed.

And is the ramp reaching the end of the wall my fault, the guard's or the train company's?

It's not your fault, no one is suggesting it is. What we're trying to find out is if you knew about this last Saturday, but decided to make a stand for your rights?

(Sorry to ask again)

Whaaat!???

You've just earned a place in my "ignore" list. And you've done it all by yourself, clever you. You're quite an able man, I'd say.
I'm not going to read any more of your drivel.

Ppps hope the people that will undertake the suspended guards disciplinary will review these and the DS posts. I am sure on this basis alone it will be a case of "case dismissed". If not I can see a number 10 petition coming on for common sense.
I am utterly disgusted with with Mr k, and just hope Nothern will take actiin against Mr k as a provebial time waster.

You tell us. Because obviously our answer will be wrong and discriminatory.

What was it you said to me about changing the topic again...?

You need to learn what discrimination means. You are in a wheelchair, it's unfortunate but it's true. A fact is not discrimination. The fact that you need assistance is not discrimination - refusing to EVER provide you that assistance is discrimination. Discrimination would be denying you the use of a wheelchair and forcing you to spend all your life in a bed in a hospital, which when these stations were built would have been your lot in life unless you were the son of a VERY wealthy family. The world's not perfect, but calling everyone discriminatory will not improve it.

Oh god is that what everyone is asking and trying to figure out. I thought they were trying to pick holes in my 'story' so that they can call me a liar.

If that is the whole argument then I can settle it right now. I did not know about this last Saturday, buthave come to know of it since. If the guard or anyone else told me then that would be it. But no one did.

Is that fine. Can we now call it a day?

You being in a wheelchair is the defining point of this debate! It's not discrimination to state that you are in a wheelchair, it's a fact!

I might email a link to this thread to the BBC and see what they make of it!

Discrimination is the actual behavior towards another group. It involves excluding or restricting members of one group from opportunities that are available to other groups

Not until you admit you are grossly in the wrong for posting a biased video all over the Internet showing half of the story and then go crying to the media without allowing Northern the time and courtesy of investigating your "complaint". Then you go posting numerous inaccuracies on forums such as this and DS and when you are found out to be a liar you change the subject and start making up more crap thus making you look an even bigger idiot...
