Wheel Profile / Rail Profile Compatibility for New RS

Hi

How do I know which wheel profiles are compatible with which rail profile?

Is there some publication somewhere or a general rule of thumb.

I am for introduction of new rolling stock / yellow plant onto esisiting infrastructure.

The operator of the network you intend to run your plant on will have a standard specifying what profile(s) are suitable for its infrastructure. This will probably be very similar for heavy rail networks but different for light rail and tramways.

You should be able to request the applicable standard from the relevant organisation.

Welcome to the forum. Formal published standards tend to be pricey to access, but there are a lot of publications about tram-train wheel profiles available for freee online, which might be a good place to start looking.

There is a combination of wheel and rail profiles used on the SST and NR
infrastructure, all of which needed to be considered. The following sub-sections
