377s as are 375s etc are 100mph max. Linespeed down there varies tween 80 - 100 (I think - long time since I've seen a map)

Quite - but Death likes to have his fantasies of speeds we can only dream of 8)<D:grin:

I must say its got to be 56312 for me, lovely machine.

Bloody ugly thing now though - who ever thought they'd see a purple grid with green letters! Was slightly easy on the eye as 56003 - even if it did land me with a horrible bit of **** in the eye that was nearly a hospital job ( beat that by making hospital jobs several times over now).

Favourite machine would probably have to be the monster 33116 - although I do have a soft spot for 47117.

In terms of mainline locos - I couldn't tell you  I've never kept any kind of record. Probably 33046 for being a gutsy little beast on several notable occasions.

Favourite steam engine is probably Evening Star.

Every time I'm near a Pendo it always seems to be 390012, beast of a machine like all other Pendos - MY LORDZ

56312 looks better in real life, though it takes a while to get used to it!

40106 has to be another favourite, one of the first locos I remember!

I havn't really got a favorite loco these days, but one thing that is always turning up like a bad penny when I am over there is everybody's favourite Swiss loco, SBB's 421 397 <( It is virtually welded to one of the two Zürich - Lindau EC diagrams, so guess who had it again a couple of weeks ago; though I can't complain too much as the other diagram was required for haulage :D

One loco I am always pleased to see in Germany though is 218 356 , it has been allocated to quite a few depots in recent years and I have had several runs in different areas behind it.

56120!! just monsterous
56119 always performed well
55022 brilliant machine, my first deltic for haulage on manline
55019 great engine just doesn't make enough sound on NYMR :(
56122 'Wilton Coalpower' Was an excellent grid before her accident always will have a soft spot for it
56117 another nice grid
66709 my fav shed *runs for cover*
56049 used to be excellent on empty MGR runs
25059 my first rat for haulage and was impressive
25262 was just just hellfire at this years KWVR thrash fest
56052 was a superb when it pulled the MGRs out of Sunderland in place of a rancid tug.
56133 a decent performer
56135 handled HAAs at Ryhope grange no bother.

I would say the rest of the 56s i've cabbed but don't have all day lol. anyways thats a brief of the beasts i like

It was my first 31 bash(despite the line at CPRRA being 1 1/2 miles long)- Quite the thrasher in places.....

Those would be buses.

Note the 'RailUK' in the forum name.

Note the "machine" in the thread title.

Buses, trains, planes, cars, computer are all machine, so you're entitled to have a "machine" from any of those groups.

I'm siding with AlexS here. After all, it's my thread and the intention was to identify what locomotives/units people had a special connection with or liked the most.

For the purpose of definition, this was not supposed to be inclusive of things such as buses. Obviously I did not mention this as it didn't come to mind at the time.

But since we're on about buses, my personal favourite is the local Optare Spectra, VA51 SAR. Done thousands of miles on her and is a real good thrasher.
