@D1511 when I look at these, it amazes me that the fidelity on 2mm these days, trumps my 4mm "home detailed" Lima 37 / 47 / 50 models of the latter 1980s. Superb stuff.

Agree 100%. The only clue that those photos were of N gauge locos and not OO was the Energizer battery next to Odin!Wow

Ha! I used to have a geology teacher who left his geological hammer in his photos to give us a sense of scale.......I didn't realise I'd inadvertently done that too!

081 is one of the 'classic' named 47s......it was only those WR ones that had names when I started spotting.....and the nameplates were very understated in that small capitalised font. So this is a pure nostalgia purchase!

To quote a well-known turkey industrialist; they're bootiful! I am very happy I go with N scale considering the amount of precision detail there is these days.
They are very lovely models, especially when it comes to the livery application. Hornby seem to do really well when it comes to modern EMUs - their Pendolini and Javelin (the posh one, not the natty cheap one) are both superb models.

A P2K SD50 (D&RGW) started off my interest in US outline.I'm still on the search for a Proto 2000 F3, at a decent price. Proto 1000 F3's are common, the 2000 seems less so.
Conversely, I picked up a Stewart Hobbies FTA+B and F2B for a steal.

I do like these oddities that survived all the way into blue and grey. The door handles are a very nice detail too.
Lovely piece of kit. Demonstrator liveries honestly look nicer than half of the actual roads!

No surprises - another Syphon. This time a Transrail liveried example in the shape of 37407 "Blackpool Tower"
Back when it was still 37305, the real thing memorably found its way to the North East on the Yarmouth - Newcastle in the summer of 1984. A total fix. Of course, we could have all stayed in the pub if we'd known it was soon to become a 37/4.

The last loco on British Railways survived until 1951, but one, originally 357 Riddlesdown, was sold by the Southern in 1947 to the Whittingham Hospital Railway north-east of Preston. Named James Fryers, it lasted until 1956 when the state of the boiler led to its withdrawal and scrapping.

Although actually acquired Autumn-time, this was one of my Christmas presents this year; the EFE Rail Class 144 in WYPTE livery which is one of my favourite livery’s. It doesn’t fit the theme of my layout but it does fit my collection of ‘trains of my childhood’ that I run sometimes instead

The glazing and rivet detail on that bus is really quite phenomenal! @GatwickDepress I agree re: WYPTE livery. I liked it on the 155s too. I think that livery, plus the Regional Railways livery variant that the 158s had from new, were two of the most stylish liveries and yet to be beaten.

Thanks all. Coincidentally I had a ride on the real thing yesterday on the KWVR and that just highlighted what a good reproduction the model is visually.
It's a fairly well-known issue hence the cheap price you can get these EFE Pacers at now; a combination of the model being too light and the limited number of driving wheels means it struggles for traction a bit. Mine is just about acceptable in terms of performance but I know others have had more substantial issues. I still think it's a decent model considering it looks the part, has working lights etc and is available for just under £150 which is good for a 2-car DMU in this day and age.

That does sound a bit like a similar quirk to the real thing in a way and I quite like that!

@Iskra do you know how the EFE Pacer's chassis design and on-track performance compare to the RealTrack Pacer?
I realise the latter is pricier. I haven't seen any "head to head" reviews of EFE vs RT.

I think the models are closely related, highly likely derived from the same tooling in fact. I'm not able to compare the two as I don't have a Realtrack Pacer (I do have two 156's which are stunning). It's quite possible that the Realtrack pacer performs similarly, but that people's expectations of performance have shifted significantly in the years since the Realtrack original was released. Or alternatively, people accepted it at the time since it was the only decent Pacer available (sorry Hornby). When you compare the EFE release to a modern Bachman 150/158 or Realtrack 156 they are significantly weaker, but being half the price of such models has a value of its own... ...incidentally, pairing two units may actually improve performance.
Haha, I only did Oxenhope-Oakworth on a sparsely populated service, meanwhile the 6-carriage steamer was wedged...Commiserations.
