Beer or similar. Pedigree, Holden's Special, Cumberland is a great one, Caffreys, Guinness, old peculier, and so on.

Can drink stella and so on but cheapo lager tends to just make me ill these days.

Can't drink spirits anymore.

A nice real cider (Westons' thumbs up from me too).

Real Ale - (Badger Beer, Wychwood).

I do drink because I enjoy it, not to get drunk (is this unusual?), so I'm afraid alcho-pops and barrels of pigs swell (that's lager) are out.

Always enjoyed it. I can remember being given a taste of bitter (whitbread best scotch I think) at a wedding when I was about 6 or 7. It was meant to put me off-you can guess the rest. If you can't, watch the episode of the simpsons where a young Homer gives Barney (the rocket scientist!) his first taste of duff beer. Class stuff.

Badger beers are normally very tasty but can't get away with Blandford Fly.
Hobgoblin is superb, available at just 1.29 from Aldi at the mo.
In your neck of the woods , Ringwood 49er used to be worth a session, as did Wadworths before being taken over.

Well yep, like me. It's not the drunk thing, there's just something in cheap larger/cider makes you feel yuk. I'll take my hat off to those that can drink the stuff!

Without a doubt. Really enjoy golden glory, very aromatic.

Had 2 litres Newton vale cider and 2 litres sainsburys english vintage cider(this is rebadged Westons by the way) currently finishing off 4 cans of Ruddles county, got some Lowenbrau and some nice schofferhofer hefeweisen to go at If I get really thirsty might break into the Sloe gin that i made a few weeks ago or start on the case of Stella.....

Cut my teeth on Newcastle Brown.

A tip from the collieries in the north.

Never, ever ask for a Newky brown. This will instantly mark you out as a 'Student Gwant' , a sad gay poser or a soft southern sissy. Ask for 'brown ale', don't make a big deal of it and when questioned take a half glass. This should be topped up at all times.

Nice smooth cider (7%ish)eg Westons,waitrose or sainsburys own brand-definately nothing in a plastic bottle(also ice-no thank you-why water it down).
Well kept real ale-badly kept is worse than cheap lager.
Well kept Guinness(not extra cold and no shamrock in the top please!)
A nice gin- Blackwoods or Tanqueray 10, Bombay Sapphire also
European lager- almost anything from Germany, Poland or the czech republic; also Belgium trappist beers.
Decent appellation wine at a push.

Soft drinks good old fashioned water, skimmed milk or elderflower cordial.

Well, if we're onto alcoholic drinks, then (although I very, very rarely drink) I'm a big fan of Quinns. Also like JD & coke and alcopops. (Shameful about the alcopops I know!)

Normal price up here is £2.19

Have never visited north of the border yet(do you still have those DEMUs running to Derry? Also Leyland Tigers/leopards?) but was stunned by how quickly euros vanished in Dublin/Ballina last year- E4.80 a pint makes an expensive night out and that was in old mens bars, not trendy joints!

I thought I might be too late for the old buses. Sampling the long gone REs would have been great too. I know loads of ex mainland Leopards went to Lough Swilly but they will be long gone now as well.
Tempted by cheap easyjet flights to try and get a bit more rail coverage though!

Mostly orange squash in the day time ,but with added Pepsi Max for stupidly early shifts for caffine factor (although I hate tea & coffee).

But as I my passport says "Australia" on it I am of course into lager..

Mostly I drink edinburghs finest brew... i.e. Fosters!

But as most of my friends these days have young children & arranging a night out is more complex than planning operation overlord what with babysitters, passes from wife's for their husband to leave the house whilst not on a shopping trip & my shifts etc etc. I do seem to just have a few beers at home now instead of actually going out. But the missus is a good un & brings me a crate of fosters back every week so I'm happy enough. She even knows that should the supermarket be out of fosters then she needs to go to another supermarket & get fosters from there rather than bring back carling or similar.

Oh & BTW , to get your girlfriend/wife to do the shopping instead of yourself then simply offer to go shopping for her, whilst there bring back all the wrong items & make it cost twice as much. Follow that with admiting that you are hopeless at shopping, repeat as neccesary . Finally she will figure that you are not as good as her at shopping & never ask you to do it again...Oh & working shifts also helps.
