I know it's been a tad snowy, but is this the only reason that there has been (as far as passengers can see) a rash of unit failures on the 333s? Or does anyone have any details of what failures there have actually been in the last week - as I say, passengers are seeing big disruptions and "the word" is blaming unit failures.

I'm sure someone on a thread earlier on today said there were issues with the sanders on the 333s at the moment.

Northern and Metro had updates yesterday about problems with the wires on the Airedale/Wharfedale lines. Would have thought there would be some spare units going around with some of the services still not running out of Sheffield/Lincoln?

There must be quite a few units spared by not running Doncaster - Adwick, Newcastle - Morpeth/ Chathill etc etc (plus TPE not running to Cleethorpes)

However, the failed units plus the longer journey times will obviously mean fewer are available than *all* the saved ones

PS: Living in South Yorkshire, should I point out that they are 25% "ours"? :o

Not running units between Doncaster and Adwick doesn't save any units as they just sit in platform 5 at Doncaster until the correct departure.

TPE now running to Cleethorpes today, as are Northern to Lincoln. EMT supposed to be running Lincoln - Doncaster too, though these are often cancelled even in good weather.
