Hi all,

On the A38 next to Markeaton park, I never fail to notice this structure that looks very much like a platform. I doubt it is part of the park's miniature railway, so what is it?

Does anybody know if a line ran through there or what that platform is?

Many thanks

Thanks for the reply.

I wonder what that structure is, it's a bit low me thinks for a normal MU. It could only be part of a miniature railway but that can be seen in the foreground.

I wonder what it is

There was never a railway line any where near Markeaton Park other than the miniature railway as you correctly pointed out. I think it's safe to say that it's not railway related.

I've got it - it's the other side of the bridge.

The road doesn't go over a bridge at all, it's just bit of footpath goes over the edge of the lake.

I can't find a suitable picture but Grosvenor Bridge (south of London Victoria) is similar - the bridge arches protrude through the deck, higher than the rails.
