What's the story in Balamory?....a relaunch of a childrens TV programme after a long break.

Did anyone on this website find the answer to that conundrum? The TV programme has been reintroduced after quite a long period and there may well be some website members who actually watched the first seeries and have memories of the original casting roles and have memories to relate.

Yes, the creators of the programme produced several series of said lighthearted children's entertainment to keep you appraised of what exactly was the story in Ballamory.

'Balamory' (= correct spelling) is a BBC children's TV programme focusing on the residents of a fictional Western Scotland island community and is aimed primarily at pre-school children. Not sure many of us on here will be in the target demographic!

I remember watching the original when I was about 6 or 7, and it's recently been revived - I suspect that a number of people around my age will be taking a look for nostalgia purposes even if they don't have kids of their own!

It's filmed in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull for anyone interested.

My kids loved Balamory, and their mum and I found it a little bit less tiresome than most of the other children’s TV shows. And it didn’t have Mr bloody Tumble in it

A small island off the west coast of Scotland is to effectively close every Sunday after an unexpected surge in tourists.

Ulva only has 16 people living there, but it took a starring role in Banjo and Ro's Grand Island Hotel - a programme focused around interior designer Banjo Beale and his husband Ro Christopher trying to redevelop a stately home.

Since then tourists have started flocking to the island, taking locals by surprise. The demand has been such that the Ulva Ferry company, which runs a service between Mull and Ulva, has announced it will now halt Sunday services.

Of course a few decades ago, Sunday ferry services were almost unknown for religious reasons.

We went to Mull about 15-20 years (no kids). A lot of locals gave low level negative vibes to us as visitors, sadly....

Ava Potts (played by Danielle Jam) has taken over from Archie as Balamory’s resident inventor. Several sources state that Ava is Archie’s daughter.

For a long time the residents of Tobermory were fed up of visitors hunting out Balamory stuff. So they repainted the houses and took down the signs.
