What's going on at Smethwick GB?

Hi all,
On a rove around the West Midlands today, I happened to notice some new track, including a prefab set of points (and an OLE mast crossmember or two) to the south of the running lines just east of Smethwick Galton Bridge (on the New Street lines)-does anyone know what they're for?

Its started then! How are the overlaps, or perhaps lack of them, being resolved at New Street?

They aren't, put overlaps in and you need to take half the trains out, it has a myriad of derogation's sorted.

Lots of works at Easter along that corridor. Galton Junction S&C renewal, a bridge replacement further along towards Wolves, and Plain Line Track Renewals at both Coseley and Monmore Green. Quite a complicated block.
