At about 20:50 on Friday 22nd July, I was on a Weymouth-bound 444. As we passed through a station just north of Woking, there was a rake of dark red slam door carriages sitting at a platform, being hauled by an EWS 67. There didn't appear to be anyone on board.

Each carriagee appeared to have the "British Railways" logo painted on it.

Anyone know why it was out and about? Special charter?

True that - also the logos arent on every coach as I first thought - nevermind :)

Let you off lol. Was just thinking, when they had the celebrations up in London for the last Harry Potter film, didn't they have the 'Hogwarts Express' up in London as well? That's the only stock that comes to mind going by the description.

Potentially, but that's usually steam hauled!

Royal Train was my initial thought, but it's the wrong red, and the carriages I saw were old slam door stock.

@oversteer - could well be, though I'm pretty certain there was only one 67 on the front... :-\ I could've missed the one at the London end though.

It it makes any difference, I'm 99% it was heading towards the coast.
