What type of train?

I am due to travel from glasgow central to euston on thursday with my 2 children. I haven't travelled this journey by train in about 8 years and wondering the likelihood of the train being a pendilino style? I have tried to find the answer in Avantiwestcoast website but it doesn't seem to say. Any help appreciated thank you

That route is nearly always a Pendolino service - hopefully 11 coaches, as it is often popular/gets very busy when formed of 9 coaches, depending on your time of departure.

Occasionally there can be certain trains booked as 2x Voyagers (Diesel Class 221's), but hopefully you'll get a Pendolino!
You can use www.realtimetrains.co.uk to look back in the last 14 days or so and see what train that specific departure time has been formed of recently - should give you a good idea of what to expect!

The forum's booking site includes a seat selector, if that's of interest. It will also look for the cheapest combination of tickets all the way from North Lanakshire to your final destination in London.

Thank you, i was actually hoping not to be on the pendolino as i have previously had very bad motion sickness (the reason why i swapped from train to car on this journey), which was ok when i was travelling solo but i now have 2 humans to look after! I will have a look at the website you have recommended to see what they have been recently.

No worries; we do not provide an "avoid Pendolino" option but next time if you state your journey requirements here, we may be able to suggest alternatives. The forum's booking site allows up to 3 via & up to 3 avoid locations (these can be fine tuned to call/not call and change/not change) so you can book, as a through journey, all the way from your origin to destination getting an itinerary that suits your requirements.

The caveat is that to avoid Pendolinos it will certainly take longer.

But if you keep your eyes glued to the view out the window, you should be fine. Hopefully you've not been allocated one of the "window" seats that gives you a view of plastic!

I also know you can (or used to be able to) Travel from glasgow queen street-edinburgh- king cross. However this is the only train that thetrainline says were available for my dates.

If you book far in advance, it may be that alternative routes are not available to book yet; you can check that here:

For future reference, I'm not sure if the Avanti site has a seat selector or not (it used to, but last time I looked I couldn't find it), but the forum's site does have a seat selector. To find it, you need to add the journey to your basket (don't go straight to the payment stage), then click the seat icon.
