I agree it's a wider issue, though especially disappointing for regional and suburban stock. At least for intercities, stops are less frequent with longer dwells at major stations where more reliable assistance can be provided around the clock and engineers have always preferred larger wheels for the highest speeds, so lowering the floor isn't as straightforward. I think the industry took a very poor decision in not considering LB when designing brand new bodyshells for these recent large orders. It took new market entrant, Stadler, to rock the boat on the Anglia fleet.Hardly an Aventra only issue, seeing that the same applies to the Desiros, CAFs and IETs as well.

Though with a radically different running gear concept, having only one pair of wheels per car at its coupling to the next vehicle. I hesitate to call the wheel-pairs axles as the two wheels are separately suspended and not physically connected through a conventional axle. This allows the inter-vehicle passageway to be lower than the tops of the wheels to match lower continuous floor heights matching 760mm or 550mm platforms for LB, while using a fairly large wheel diameter, preferred for high speed. The shorter cars can be slightly wider than typical European trains due to less centre throw and pretty much zero end throw on curves.Talgo do 13 metre carriages at 200mph
