What trains were these.

I wonder if anybody could ID two trains I saw travelling together this morning.It was just after midday 6th dec on the line into Manchester just past Mauldeth Road station.I only got a quick look and I'm not a spotter but they looked like 2 class 37s with a yellow carriage in between them.Thanks.

Sounds like some kind of NR test train.

Doing some kind of tour of south Manchester lines.
Started from Longsight and worked to Navigation Road, east to Chinley, back to Longsight, and then out to Alderley Edge.
It then went to Piccadilly and back via Mauldeth Road (1215 and 1249), finally heading to Derby via Crewe.
