I'm trying to register for railwayforum.net at the moment, but there is this random question that I find it struggling to answer. Can anyone help me out?

In that string of characters, I can spot the following letters: K R A C T
The question says it is a rail related anagram - perhaps you could try TRACK?

That's just weird, I wouldn't have got it either.
My first thought would be it was a fault with the forum software, never heard an anagram described as "pick the letters out of this random jumble of characters and re-arrange them" before.

That's a frankly hilarious bot prevention strategy, to the point it probably prevents a majority of people from registering lol.
The least they could do is make the question clear, in that the user needs to find an anagram from the alpabet letters extracted from the string.

Doubly so given that the 'random' question appears to be the same every time (just tried it twice).

I couldn’t fathom it out, I’d have given up in disgust I agree.
The first week of GCHQ's National Cipher Challenge was potentially easier than this.

The system of that site is still vBulletin 3.8.4, although I don't know how the latest vBulletin 6.1.4 fare against Xenfero.

The only time I have seen a site queston be more difficult to answer was many years ago when one insisted that I answered 3 questions, they were:
1. Year you passed your driving test.
2. Manufacturer of your first car.
3. Colour of your current car.
1. I can't drive.
2. I have never owned a car.
3. What colour is non-existent?

3) Light grey with extensive brown trim.

At least that's what shows on my driving licence I got in Legoland.
Bad memories though. The ride operator mocked me because I stopped for her to use a zebra crossing.

Of course I just made answers up.
My partners son once had to give his favourite colour as a security question on a site, not having a favourite colour he just made one up. Inevitably when the time came that he needed to answer this security question he couldn't remember what colour he had pretended was his favourite.

As a hint, they don't usually actually check that what you enter is actually a colour. Hence your favourite "colour" could easily be "Class142".
