What to do about Leeds station escalator ?

In the meantime, until the other escalator is back up and running, how about switching the other escalator to go UP ?

Once fixed, how about switching the broke escalator to go Down

If it went downwards, it might not break as much!

The escalator is out of action today again and has repairmen in it.

The chair lift people? Now there's an idea... instead of an escalator, ski lift-style seating on either side, with the seats returning, paternoster lift-style, to the bottom. It would definitely stop people taking suitcases on it!

Just not working. Tensa barrier tape across the top and bottom preventing access
