My planned trip ..

Sunday 12th November, Newcastle to Morpeth return (1 adult with senior railcard)

There are return journey prices as low as £3.10, but the option of an off-peak day return at £4.55 seems better, offering some flexibility.

There are several companies too, LNER, Cross Country, Lumo, TPE and Northern Rail, so the idea of a bit of flexibility seems great.

Are there any time restrictions, bearing in mind this is on a Sunday ?

I'll probably leave NCl mid-morning and aim to return from MPT mid-afternoon

thanks !

There are no weekend restrictions on any Off Peak tickets, though some Super Off Peaks have Saturday restrictions.

I don't think there are any walk-up tickets at all with Sunday time restrictions.

SWR used to have them, but they've removed all of the restrictions on Sundays now. That leaves just a range of "evening" products which have restrictions on Sundays, e.g. the West Midlands £2.80 flat single or return. Some other tickets are barred completely on weekends, but not valid only at certain times.
