What stock would this have been?

Looking back now around 10-15 years ago on the District line I believe I got on an all white train with a brown interior, I'm sure the floors were wooden. I say all white because the doors etc were not red like they all are now.

I've been trying to look into all the stocks been and gone on the LU and this bugged me because I would love to find a photo of what stock this would of been?

Any help would be brilliant

The London Underground D78 Stock was a type of sub-surface rolling stock which operated on the District line of the London Underground, except on the Wimbledon to Edgware Road service. Following the withdrawal of the C Stock in June 2014, these were the oldest subsurface trains in service on the London Underground. The first units were withdrawn in January 2015 with the last withdrawn on 21 April 2017....

Thinking of this brings back happy memories about the last run of the pre refurbished D78 in 2008
Driven by the Great District Dave himself back to Ealing Broadway
Then he opened the front doors and allowed My 2 sons and myself in to travel back to Ealing Common with the cab doors open and looking very inviting
(We of course didnt go in cause that would be illegal LOL)

Looking at the D76 stock for some reason it doesn't quite live up to the memory I had, would there of been anything else it could have been?

The floor is what I remember very well, being wooden unlike the vinyl or plastic of today, and the effect was almost like wooden laths

It was definitely the D78 stock in the timescales you've given - it would have been an unrefurbished train (I.e. as built) with unpainted aluminium, orange-based interior and wooden flooring.

The only other comparable stock were the Jubilee's 1983 stock, all of which were long withdrawn by "10-15 years ago".

Is there any interior shots of the said stock? It must be that! I was young at the time so my memory might be a little vivid so excuse me.

I have done some searching and found the photos which add up exactly to my memory, the handles which hung down, the flooring pattern, orange etc etc.

The class 230s are coming to that line... they are rebuilt D78s.

Not in original condition, no - there is one driving car at the museum's store in Acton but it's in refurbished condition.

Also at LTM Acton is a car of 1983 stock, which as mentioned was essentially a shrunk down version of the D78. You'll be able to relive the mid-80s look, but it may feel a bit more claustrophobic!
