What services run on new year's day

I am going to Liverpool new year's day and need to find out if there is any train running? :D So do trains from Blackpool to Liverpool run? Or do i need to change at preston

Look at www.nationalrail.co.uk and they will tell you that you can travel by train from Blackpool - Preston - Ormskirk - Liverpool or you can get a train from Blackpool - Preston - Bus to Wigan - Train to Liverpool.
