South Lanarkshire Council have put out a consultation on making a dual carriageway out of Stewartfield Way for £62million.

The existing road between Philipshill and Kingsgate roundabouts would be widened to dual carriageway, all to the north of the existing single carriageway, and roundabouts along the route would be enlarged to provide greater capacity. New bridges would also cross the Kittoch Water and Markethill Road. The existing road between Kingsgate and Mavor Avenue roundabouts would be widened and the layout and operation of both these roundabouts, including the existing traffic signals, reviewed.

EK News Facebook post includes comments saying money would be better spent on infrastructure in new neighbourhoods in south of town.

If the City Deal money went on rail instead, what kind of line could East Kilbride get? Borders line was £11m per mile (including stations, according to RailFuture) so 5 miles or so.

Could extension link Eaglesham, and new housing at Jackton and Langlands in south of EK? Where could it branch off existing line - after Thorntonhall or Busby?

Once you include mobilisation costs you will be lucky to get a mile for that.

If the Croxley Rail Link project is anything to go by you can spend between £71m and £130m (reports vary) and have nothing whatsoever to show for it.
