With the franchise process now null and void what’s going to happen to this railway going forward, will TfL swoop in?(I personally doubt it but it would be nice), how about the proposed timetable the ITT planned out in 2022?

One things for certain, the networkers won’t be getting that much needed deep clean and refurb any time soon unfortunately, which is rather annoying

Apologies in advance of this thread has been done already.

Here it is, only a month ago. You posted in it:

also happens to increase usage due to the fact it is on the tube map

Indeed it does.

And there’s lots of things to do in this neck of the woods, plus Greenwich is a lot closer to Central London than most who use the DLR To get there may believe, 2 stops from LB, to a UN heritage site, TfL will promote this better than SE currently does

TfL have improved the lines and trains they take over, plus ticket staff too would be nice to have a presence in stations

With new trains (which are specified in the new franchise anyway), and more frequent trains (which isn’t possible on SE). TfL also improved punctuality, but SE is already easily the best performing of the big 4 LSE commuter TOCs.

And TfL don’t have the money to do anything with it (whereas they had overflowing wallets for the routes they took over).

Never quite understood the disdain for Networkers. They are decent units, only being re-motored a few years ago and a good few of them now have disabled toilets.
TfL would be good for metro services, but what about the mainline services?

I like networkers, they’re a very good train, it’s just that they’ve been not been taken care of enough, compare SE’s networkers with the ones on GWR, Chiltern and Great Northern, they much better maintained and they’re are as old as the SE networkers (the first batch arriving in 1991/92)

Agreed. Take the MetCam units off the table (absolute rot carts), and the BREL/ABB 97 are in relative health and with some half-decent overhaul / maintenance / TLC, new interior etc. they would definitely last through a further 10 years. Indeed, use them on the 'less crowded' commuter lines (Orpington to Victoria / Beckenham to Blackfriars / Orpington to Charing Cross / Sevenoaks to Cannon Street and a few others at contra-peak) and they'd be very suitable. A new fleet could be introduced and thence options exist for a further build in time for the start of a new franchise in, say, 2030.
