Hi Folks,

I couldn't find a relevant thread so started this one, I'm referring to the Knighton Junction, Swannington and Leicester Junction line - or the railway that runs from Knighton Junction to Burton On Trent.

Looking at the diagrams to see what was about and having a general nosey, I noticed the remarks on the signalling berths leading from Burton towards Coalville - I assume this section of line is now officially Out Of Use?. Of course the section from Coalville to Knighton Junction is still used for the quarry traffic.

I've attached a screenshot to show.

Cheers

Think there was another thread on here somewhere.
Simple answer - very few trains head that way, and therefore the boxes the control the signalling are rarely open > Cue tons of cable theft.
3/4 of the signals are now completly black and Network Rail has taken the decision to close the line. Birmingham Curve Jnc has been OOU for a while due to a seperate issue. A sad end to honest.

There was talk of reopening it but thats hit the buffers once the government changed hands.
