...Railways only, please.
Closed stations and lines, especially when I think, 'that would be so useful now'. (I've been looking at this). There's loads of these and I always feel a sense of sadness inside and a longing for their return. Looking at an empty space, or a built-over area where a station or line once stood is sad, to me, in that it used to be something poetic. I don't mean to sound like a pathetic *******, but that's how I feel about them.
I read about cycle tracks and they sound great (and the couple I've walked are very nice), but they're not railways and if it were up to me, they'd be ballasted over in a heartbeat.
Empty trains. I want to see every train busy. I work for a TOC and my heart sinks when I see our trains running empty. Perhaps I have some romantic idea of the railways, but I don't have to stretch my imagination too much to believe that all trains could be busy.
