What is the highest (non-season) fare in Britain?

Presumably a First Anytime non-Day Return between two distant points?

And what are the highest First Single, Standard Return, and Standard Single fares?

(And what's the lowest fare? Though I think there was a thread on that once, "fares under a pound" or something like that... Stourbridge Town to Stourbridge Junction at 90p is probably a good contender.)

Highest FOR price I can find is £705 for +Via London fares between the West Highlands and Cornwall. Same goes for the FOS at £352.

Highest SOS/SOR price is £246.50/£493, mostly fares between the Buxton line and the Isle of Wight, also routed +Via London.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a price above which you might as well just get a national day rover ticket?

The only tickets valid across the whole nation are for 7/14 days, and have peak restrictions out of some principle stations like New Street and Euston, so wouldn't be suitable for all commuting purposes.

IIRC it was Newquay - Kyle of Localsh.

It's gone down since I last looked, it was over £1000!

£1002 when it made the national news, which went up to £1068 at the next revision. This promptly came down to £640 when a big hooha was made of it in the papers. £640 then became effectively a "cap" for Anytime First Returns on CrossCountry routes for a few years.
