Just a quick question, what is the DFFT?
I have passed all stage 1 and 2 tests including MMI. I am in a TOC talent pool but have applied elsewhere in the meantime. I have been asked to sit a DFFT

Driver fault finding test. I read on here recently that some people found it the hardest test , I thought it was the easiest of them all and in my opinion , the practice material was nearer the actual test than other test's and their practice material.

As far as I understand it’s a test used by tocs with an enhanced standard.

I found the practice material, although similar to the test itself, was far more simplistic than the real test .. then add in the time constraint and it becomes quite tough in my opinion ... although I did pass it I wasn’t that confident I had, when i’d finished ....?

im in exactly the same boat, i have mine this week. It seems fairly straight forward. All about concentration and not making stupid mistakes. will let you know how i get on.

17 out of 20 and only standard pass, did they specifically say you’d passed DFFT?
I only did 12 and got the enhanced pass 2 years ago.
Most people I spoke to only got to question 11,12,13 In the time limit.

He must have answered 17 questions but made plenty of mistakes....I remember doing around 10 and passed enhanced, we were told the test u will get penalized for errors

It's definitely the hardest test of the lot. Make sure you practice for this one, although I must confess the practice material is absolutely crap

I also passed to enhanced standard and I only completed 8.5! I was satisfied they were all correct, and I’d imagine even one wrong at that level would have been a fail.

Think it is an enhanced test, I didn’t do it for EMR.

mixed bag then, some say the practice material was good, some say crap

From memory there were 25 on mine ... and I think I managed to complete 9.

I might have my wires crossed. I got an email from WMT as I asked about if I would need to resit tests and they told me I needed to resit the TRP1 & TRP2, so I passed the Dials and cables and the GLOP to at least national standard. From my OPC feedback at the time, I remember that I had passed the cables and dials to Freightliners enhanced standard but not the Glop(memory) test.
I remember that I answered 17 of the cables and dials, not the DFFT. That was considered enough for Freightliner to pass.
I assume that I will be asked to resit just the two I failed to meet the standard on but I am revising all tests as this isn't guaranteed and friends of mine have turned up for assessments and been required to resit all tests.
17 for the cables and dials seems low but to be honest, this was at 9am in the morning after driving from the midlands to crewe and my first ever attempt at the assessments, I was surprised that it was a pass as at the time I felt I had let myself down a bit.

I have most the information on that test written down as from memory I made notes on all the assessments on the train home incase I failed...cant post on here it would prob get taken down

When I sat the tests for Freightliner, the practise material for the DFFT was more than enough to give you an insight into what to expect.
The only difference being that the practise gave you one problem to solve whereas the real test was two.
But if you work out the practise material then you’ll be fine for the real thing.

I might be wrong, but im under the impression existing applications are changed but talent pool places aren't changed by subsequent test results.
I'm also in a talent pool but it's never guaranteed that you will end up with a job. I intend to pass the tests to enhanced standard and only see it as an extra opportunity.

the talent pool I’m in was my first attempt, but I am pretty disillusioned with the whole covid affect and this long the process has taken so far (2years), and I rang the company and found out that they won’t be taking on for the depot I have applied to until the end of 2021.

Retaking a tea occ and taking a DFFT is a gamble of my talent pool position but nothing is guaranteed this far it’s just a process I have passed nothing more than that.

I agree- this was the only test I failed on during my assessment and the real test was a bit more complex than the practice material, from memory we only had 20 minutes to compete this test.

Yeah i cannot see why you would lose a talent pool place for failing a test that you didn't need to take to get into the talent pool with the other toc that doesn't seem right.

Just got off the phone with the OPC and they confirmed my suspicion. Your new result supersedes prior results. So there is definitely potential to loose a talent pool position with one TOC whilst trying to reach a higher level with another TOC. Christ, you all obviously know the amount of work that goes into this, and the gamble is a lot of added pressure.

I questioned this dan with the opc by email they said its the tocs that you would need to speak with and would be up to them. I have now emailed the toc for clarification. i cannot see why it would matter when a toc doesn't require that test. will let you know when i get a response.


To clarify this is only taking the dfft test. no others.

Well i got the good news today i passed the DFFT test i had last week

I never heard back from the other toc to see if it would effect my talent pool place had i failed. Luckily for me this is no longer a problem. (buzzing)

I completed 8.5 and passed. I was confident they were all correct, as one wrong I’d imagine would have been a fail?

I completed 8.5 i felt like i got them all correct. My understanding is accuracy over speed. Nobody wants to see someone rush and make mistakes. I would always view it as critical to find a fault and not rush.

It is definitely always accuracy over speed, without doubt, or at least a fair split. I was however surprised at 8.5 that I passed as it did seem rather low compared to others.
