Yes, Railworks is the "sequel" to Rail Simulator. Some people are currently complaining that there isn't a great deal of difference to Rail Simulator but the intention is that the makers, RS.com, now have full access to the code and will now be constantly working to update the platform.

Additions to the game that weren't present in Rail Simulator are:-

3 new fictional routes, one based in the UK, one in the US and one in Germany.
There are 3 new locos, the UK Class 37, US F7 and the German V200.
Graphically it has been improved as well and there are many other little details which I won't list here for fear of causing boredom!

It also works on the "Steam" platform so rather than wait a few months for an upgrade, they will be received as and when they are produced.

personally i would save your cash and wait for the RS version of the 37, i cant see apart from 3 new locos and a bit more detail that my pc can`t cope with anyway i see no difference i only really want the 37 from it, i would ask someone to send it me in a zip but i dont want to break any copyright stuff so im not going too.

The Class 37 will not be available for Rail Simulator as support for the platform is now effectively over. The loco cannot be ported back to RS either, the windows are blacked out because Railworks uses a different shader and also the ploughed version puts the ploughs on the bonnet.

Help :(

Ive got MSTS and went to and sign up on the Railworks site

Ive never transferred onto MSTS before and havent got a clue what to do

there is this message

Please note that unless stated by RPK or EXE, these are not automatic install and require you to place the files into the core rail vehicle folder...

What a core vehicle folder ?

And how do I get the trains i want to download onto MSTS ???

However if you own both and RW is slow and RS is not then you can copy the 37 over to RS, tis what ive done

BUT the windows are blocked out and the AP Soundpack does not work, but they are minor issuse and can be ignored with time

I might get RW, as the new routes and that are coming out for RW now instead.

The thing is, I have the IOW, Class 66, Class 08 and all that packs for RS, but not RW..I don't want to have to pay for all that again for an RW compatible 158, 08, 66 etc!!

What exactly do you mean, are you wanting to transfer Railworks downloads to MSTS? If so, cannot be done, two different programs.

Oh i see

so is there any free programes where you can add loco's / Dmu's / Emu's to MSTS ??

I'm not sure what you mean by 'free programes', but UKTrainSim has plenty of free downloads (eg. routes, rolling stock) for MSTS, as well as RS and RW. You will need to register first, but it's free for a standard account (which limits download speed) and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Many of the downloadable items also have installers so once you specify where your Train Simulator folder is located, it's plain sailing.

Is it not from a while back when the Railworks pre-registration thing was ongoing?

Could be. The post was made in late August though, and being able to sign up to the railworks sign stopped on June 1st (3 months ago)
