What is it with EMT HSTs?!?!

Yet ANOTHER EMT HST tour, the third, will be running on the 13th of October from London - Barrow Hill

Someone obviously likes their HSTs on the tours. Perhaps EMT offer them for reasonable rates.

It doesn't stop at Leicester Still it's quite a good price! I don't think anyone would like like to ride on a XC, FGW, EC, etc HST because they use MTU engines and East Midlands Trains are the only TOC that have VP185's in the HST's!

Perhaps but there is also the fact that HSTs are pretty much the go anywhere train as there is almost nowhere they haven't been during their career, coupled with a pleasant passenger environment and an ability to run at linespeeds (making it easier to get good paths) it isn't really that surprising that people would want to run charters with them if at all possible.

EMT are also the only TOC with spare capacity in it's HST fleet on a weekday to allow them to be used on a railtour. Even at weekends the other operators would probably struggle to find an HST to run a railtour.

Oh thats very true.
For the sort of tours they are being put on, they seem quite ideal.

Hertfordshire Railtours used to run the 125 Specials - great they were too! John Farrow used to organise them I believe. He is the face behind UK Railtours who are running this trip. I think its brilliant.

Would be nice to see some more, departing not just from London. Leeds and Sheffield to some obscure places would be good! I remember doing Derby to Penzance via St. Pancras!
