A friend on Facebook took a picture of the 4 lanes that units park in overnight by the river. These are to the left of the 12 car sidings which were named Jowitt sidings. He called them Cauldwell sidings.

But to me the Cauldwell sidings are on Cauldwell walk approximately 1 mile south of this location where Maintenance is performed. This is proven here -

http://www.thameslinkprogramme.co.uk/improvements/bedford-cauldwell-sidings

Head line reads -

Bedford Cauldwell sidings
We’re planning to upgrade an existing sidings facility in Bedford where the brand new Thameslink trains will be kept, cleaned and maintained.

Please help clear up the confusion.

I believe the plan is that once the 319 and 377 cascade has been completed sometime this year, the existing Cauldwell Walk Depot will cease its function as a maintenance depot, and will be converted to a solely cleaning/stabling location.

Bedford Carriage Sidings (roads 1-14) are next to the mainline just south of the station.

Jowett Sidings (roads 15-19) are to the east of these and involve using the Up & Down Bletchley to access.

Cauldwell depot has 8 roads and is located south of the river. This is the maintenance depot.

I think your friend may be meaning Bedford Carriage Sidings though there are plenty more than 4 roads.. ;)

There were 4 roads in the picture. He called them Cauldwell sidings and they were the 4 roads next to the branch line.

So they were Bedford Carriage sidings. Thanks for verify.
