I am not from South West England thank you very much. I was born and raised in Buckinghamshire. :p

Anyway, don't think there's too many stupid place names in the South West, although there's plenty everwhere, most tend to be in the North. Kirk Sandall, Market Rasen, Clowne, what were they thinking?!

I thought you were from Bristol.

The Scots and Gaelic place names aren't actually silly. Not in their original languages. They're all good names. It's just most people don't see them because they don't speak Gaelic and have little understanding of Lowland Scots.

I'm deeply insulted.

What irritates me is the people that complain that Christmas is getting earlier every year.

Well, when your birthday is in the middle of August, and you go for a wander around Selfridges to see if you can spend a bit of birthday money and find that their Christmas department is already open  then you tend to think that those people may have a point!

Possibly, but we need something to cheer us up now the nights are drawing in.

Wikipedia can be a bit irritating sometimes as it's often full of annoying tags[sup][citation needed][/sup] for things that are otherwise common knowledge[sup][citation needed][/sup] and people treat far too much what it says as gospel.[sup][citation needed][/sup] It does have its uses though if you know something and want to explain it to someone easily,[sup][who?][/sup] but at least you can check what is there is correct.[sup][dubious-discuss][/sup][sup][citation needed][/sup]

Geordie back from exile.
I put this question to the people from the Tyne and Wear, or that know the area, or in fact, anyone that wants to have a go.

Redheugh Bridge... How do you pronounce it?
"Red-juff Bridge",
"Red-hew Bridge",
or "Red-Hewf Bridge"?

I pronounce it "Red-juff" / "rejuff bridge like".

I'm from Newcastle and have always pronounced it Redhewf bridge.

Or people who assume that because wiki can be an unreliable source, they assume all the content is inaccurate.

rather like people who assume that because one or two things in the bible are slightly inaccurate, then it proves there is no God. almost as bad as the people who think the bible is word for word literally true...

Lots of things irritate me,

People who walk slowly infront of you on the pavement and you can't get past them - You end up wanted to shout 'Get out of the [insert word] way'

People who wear Flip Flops and other open toe/open backed shoes - For crying out loud, get some proper footwear GRRRRRRRR

People who write on their hands - ever heard of paper?

Fat People who should order everything fatty then 'do you have diet coke?' - need more than that matey.

If it's people (movies etc) - Russell Brand - what a t*sser... erm, Julia Roberts/Mel Gibson - ugh

English TV - I mean, Dr Who????? WAKE UP its absolute piffle, watch something that doesn't look like a kids' TV programme and is aimed at the intelligence level of said kid - you never seen Star Trek/Stargate? Oh no, you'd need a brain for that.
English Period Drama, get rid of it, no need.
The English way of acting 'I speak', *break* 'you speak' etc etc. If it went any slower it'd stop and get a proper story will you?
Soaps???? WHY???? Absolute piffle, ever wondered why British society is so rubbish?? hmm...

You want to look at something in a shop and someone's right in front of the one bit you want to look at.

Assuming I'm the 'tag along' when I'm out taking rail photos - incl. other neds talking to whoever I'm with but I may as well be a blank piece of space. - or, assuming I know nothing.

Passengers!! - which way is the train going to be going (when we're at the stops at Waterloo), yeah we're going via WH Smiths first...?

Animating decent TV programmes. Thomas the Tank?? Why has that been CGI'd? Voices for engines too?? - same happened to Andy Pandy and Bill and Ben :(

I get irritated by soooo much, I'm sure I could keep coming up with these for hours so maybe I'll stop...
btw, I'm nice really - not 'always' grumpy.....!!!!

The people walking slowly thing gets to me too. Particularly when groups of people scale the whole pavement in a line and know you're there but don't move so you either have to move onto the road or just squeeze past them.

The new Tom & Jerry cartoons are crap too (and very PC now Jerry cannot hit Tom over the head with a frying pan anymore), same with the new Scooby Doo cartoons. I think that The Simpsons and Southpark are better animated like that though :D

With me, I get annoyed by passengers having a go at me when they're late onto the platform and their train left on time!

There's a few things that I agree with Stacey on though especially the walking very slowly bit!

Back to FCC though, it's annoying that you can see certain stations are busier then others yet on Sundays, the only station on my line open is not even half as busy as 4 other stations - this of course is due to political ass kissing!

The only other thing which annoys me is railway management who don't have a clue on how anything works and means taking things to MD level to get anything sorted!

Ah, now bus replacement services I detest with a passion as I would much rather have single line working and trains running to a admended timetable then have buses with drivers who are supposed to know the routes and take shortcuts down country lanes with a coach with no room for error!

Railway Replacement Buses are generally naff, in my experience, since they tend to be run by companies who have sufficient spare resources to run them - which usually means the local cowboy operator.
