What happened to the Chiltern Model Railway Show?

[778]

I don't really go to many model railway exhibitions/shows but the Chiltern Model Railway Show was a good event held in January every year. The last show was in 2020 just before covid. It was due to return in 2021 but was cancelled and has not been held the last 2 years. It had only been held at Stevenage for a few years after it had moved from St Albans.

Has it been permanently cancelled?

Has it been permanently cancelled?

Yes, it has. The St Albans Signal Box Preservation Trust had attended both the last few shows at St Albans and all those held at Stevenage, including the 2020 show. I asked the Chiltern Model Railway Association a year ago if they were resuming exhibitions at Stevenage, and was told the venue is no longer suitable. Apparently someone has seen fit to convert the car park at the South end of the venue to a bus station so there is nowhere the larger vans containing layouts or other stands can be brought up to the building to unload and to be parked......
