What happened at Nuneaton last night?

[RyanOPlasty]

I was travelling from Haymarket to Nuneaton on the 16:56 (9M60), due to change at New Street onto the 21:52 to Nuneaton arriving at 22:20 (1M85)
9M60 was delayed, so I missed my connection and made my own way home. On passing Nuneaton station by car at 23:25 I was surprised to see 1M85 on platform 7.

Realtime trains shows that both 1M85 and 1N69 Peterborough to New Street on platform 6 were held there for 79 and 86 minutes, respectively.

What was the reason for this?

[Tilting007]

A train reported striking something and there was blood on the unit.
Line was examined to ensure no one had been struck.
Turned out to be an animal and train running resumed.
