What effect will Crossrail have on Harry Beck's map?

Two important questions:

A). With the impending opening of Central Line 2 A.K.A Crossrail (when it comes to infrastructure, impending means 'by 2019') and conversion of suburban lines to Overground, what will happen to Harry Beck's LU map?

B). Is this topic in the right subforum, or should it be in the History one?

My bet would be either:

a). Crossrail will be shown similarly to the underground, but purple, not orange, and will be a straight line across the map, similar to the Central Line.

or

b). Crossrail and Overground will be withdrawn from the map and put onto the London part of the 'London and South East' one.

'A' looks the most likely.

That answers that then.

The latest update to the tube map has made room for Crossrail by altering the size of the central area a bit, and you'll find the Central Line has been tweaked a bit, for a while now it hasn't been the nice straight horizontal line down the middle, presumably helps to make space for the Shenfield - Liverpool St purple line to be extended west progressively as it opens.

There's another indication here, from a while back though still probably some kind of guide (pdf link seems to be broken however).

I'm getting a large version OK if I click on the map itself. That's the one I was thinking of that seems to have made Crossrail the 'horizontal datum' with everything else moved to fit, but there are other future maps that do it different again, with neither the Central Line of Crossrail being straight...

If Crossrail will be added to the tube map, then surely the central core of Thameslink should be as well?

It used to be on the tube map, but was removed (at the same time as the Northern City line). Effectively the tube map is now the TfL rail services map.

Even though its not TfL, I think Thameslink will be re-added as the Northern Line is struggling and it will be hard to defend not having it on there after 2018. Though I know it wouldn't happen, Waterloo to Wimbledon/Raynes Park could reasonably be added too.
